Overview & Highlights

Nestled in the verdant heart of Nagambie, Victoria, Tahbilk Estate Restaurant offers a refined dining experience that perfectly complements its stunning natural surroundings. Celebrated for its sophisticated modern Australian cuisine, this restaurant masterfully blends fresh, locally sourced ingredients with elegant culinary techniques, delivering dishes that are as visually captivating as they are flavorful.

Guests are invited to begin their meal with enticing starters like the Warm Salted Roast Nuts paired with House Marinated Mt Zero Olives, offering a perfectly balanced salty crunch that awakens the palate. The Chargrilled Ciabatta dressed with Barfields Extra Virgin Olive Oil, caramelized balsamic, and fragrant dukkah provides a harmonious blend of smoky, tangy, and nutty notes—ideal for sharing before the main course.

One of the highlights for group dining is the Grazing Board, a generous selection of cured meats, artisanal cheeses, warm breads, house lavosh, and accompanying quince paste, pickles, and chutney. This vibrant medley of textures and flavors invites leisurely conversation and indulgence, making it a memorable centerpiece for any meal.

For families dining with children, the restaurant thoughtfully offers a dedicated menu featuring crowd-pleasers such as Pasta with Napolitana sauce topped with Parmesan, crispy Crumbed Chicken with fries and tomato sauce, and a House Made Margherita Pizza accompanied by fries or salad. Each children's dish is crafted with fresh ingredients and balanced flavors, ensuring even the youngest guests are delighted.

The main courses are equally impressive, with frequent praises from visitors for dishes like the melt-in-your-mouth Beef Cheek and perfectly cooked Barramundi. The culinary team’s attention to texture and seasoning shines through every plate, turning each bite into a journey of richness and depth. Desserts such as the Red Wine Poached Pear and Apple Crumble provide a warm and comforting finale—inviting diners to savor the lingering sweetness as they gaze out over the breathtaking billabong.

Atmosphere here is nothing short of enchanting. The restaurant’s spacious interior boasts exquisite wood detailing and stylish décor that evoke a sense of understated luxury. Tables are thoughtfully placed to allow private, intimate conversations without feeling crowded. Many diners, including longtime patrons, cherish the outdoor decking, which overlooks the serene billabong and surrounding wetlands, creating a backdrop that is both tranquil and inspiring.

Friendly, knowledgeable staff, including memorable servers like Kristy and others, enhance the experience by sharing insights about the menu and wine pairings, ensuring every guest feels valued and well cared for. Customers often describe feeling welcomed as soon as they arrive—and that genuine hospitality makes a lasting impression.

Complement your meal with a glass or bottle of Tahbilk’s celebrated wines, such as their signature Marsanne or the exquisite 2017 1860’s Shiraz. This tasteful pairing elevates the dining experience, allowing guests to unwind while soaking in panoramic views of the billabong’s shimmering waters.

A fair bit out of the way but definitely worth it. Outlook over the billabong. Lovely spacious interior with beautiful wood detailing and superb decor. Tables well separated. The atmosphere was 6/5. We shared an entree which was new to the menu and was delicious. Wife had Barramundi and I had Beef Cheek. We each had a glass of superior quality wine. We each had dessert and shared a glass of dessert wine. I had a coffee. The meal was outstanding in every way. Presentation and flavour top notch. Quantity just right (not too small!). Service was that nice laid back Australian style where they look after you, friendly without being too familiar and you feel good about it. It wasn't cheap but this was one of the best meals we've had in a while and it was definitely worth it and the travelling a bit further.

Decided to stop in for lunch. We were not disappointed. With a few tables available we were set for a great lunch. Awesome service and delicious food. We decided on the Pepperberry Pork belly with a side of green beans Then dessert was Red wine poached pear and the Apple crumble.

The lunch was outstanding! We were seated with a view over the water, the service was timely and our Waitress Kristy was warm , welcoming and knowledgeable. We enjoyed a 2 course meal which was delicious paired with a bottle of Marsanne and then headed off with Bob for the eco boat tour of the Billabong. We had a great time, thank you for having us!

Have visited this restaurant many times. The food is delicious and the staff are friendly. Hospitality is top notch. The decking is great with a beautiful view! Highly recommend!

Warmly greeted on arrival, were shown you our table. The menu fantastic almost too much to choose from. The arancini balls Devine, ciabatta with balsamic vinegar excellent. Beef cheeks cooked to perfection, just melt in your mouth. Great wines, including 2017 1860’s Shiraz. An absolutely amazing experience. Would recommend highly

We visited Tahbilk winery for a small family occasion. From our arrival, we were treated with the utmost respect and kindness. We sat out on the deck, overlooking the billabong and just enjoyed the serenity. Our meals were delicious. After finishing our lunch, we took a short stroll to the cellar door where we tasted a couple of wines. The staff were knowledgeable and helpful in assisting us to choose our wines. We really are so grateful to Tahbilk for making our day so special.

Had a wonderful time here celebrating my birthday! The restaurant itself was lovely, the food interesting and delicious and the service very friendly. Unfortunately I forgot the name of our waitress but she had blue and pink split dyed hair. Anyway, she did a great job and answered all our questions happily. We had the special Good Friday 2 course meal including one glass of wine for $65 pp. This was very reasonable, we were just a bit sad that the wine that was included in that price didn't necessarily include something we liked 100% so we went with the next best and then in addition ordered a bottle of moscato which we highly enjoyed. The pink moscato was so delicious! We had a variety of food between us 4. We tried the lemon and sage pasta, the roast lamb, the truffle croquettes, the meat platter and the cheese board. We were very satisfied with everything. We honestly had such a great time with our friends here. After our lunch we headed for a walk behind the restaurant looking at the wine fields. We are not from the area but we will certainly return when we are again!

we had a lovely late lunch on a warm sunny day at Tahbilk Estate restaurant. The outdoor terrace is facing the backwaters of the Tahbilk billabong, with views across the water and into the wetlands, with a bottle of Tahbilk's Marsanne, we simply sit back and admire the natural beauty of this lovely place. The food is as impressive as the view, my baked Trout is one of the best I have had, staff is friendly and efficient, we enjoyed our lazy lunch very much, definitely the highlight of our short stay in Nagambie.
